While most news about the Olympics has focused heavily on doping, zika and other generally bad news, one Olympic team plans to go into the potential “big failure” looking their absolute best.
What you see above and below are the fantastic uniforms the Cuban Olympic athletic team will wear during the event’s closing ceremony in August.
The design is a collaboration between French footwear designer Christian Louboutin and Henri Tai, the founder of SportyHenri.
Tai was a former professional handball player and used his “athletic expertise” as an influence on the design. He wanted to ensure all of the clothes were tailor made for the 120 person team.
“The clothes need to fit spectacular athlete bodies – they are definitely not sample size or average, neither in length of limbs, nor in proportions. It was our mission to make them look tailor-fitted and great,” said Tai.
An accompanying video shows the christian louboutin men talking over their designs during a photo shoot with the team. “We designed the celebratory outfit for the moment they turn back into humans, still in that glory moment, still in their light but heading back to the real world,” said Louboutin. “We really want them to continue feeling amazing in their skin while looking astonishing.”
