On Friday, President Donald Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric, shared their pictures from the White House Oval Office on Twitter, a gesture that did not go down well with the social media users. While Donald Trump Jr. tweeted a photograph of himself in the Oval Office, Eric shared a picture of his 1-year-old son Luke sitting on his grandfather’s chair behind his desk. Eric’s wife, Lara, posted another image of the child and his parents in the room on Instagram.
Donald Trump Jr.’s tweet was shared 1,400 times and Eric’s tweet 5,700 times when this story was published.
Twitterati was not happy with the Trump boys lounging in the Oval Office, with many ending their tweets with #norespect. While many said Donald Trump Jr. should enjoy while he can, as it won’t be long before he and his family ends up in jail, others commented with pictures of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential elections.
Here are some of the reactions to the tweets by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
This is not the first time the Trump children have been mocked for their tweets at the White House. White House senior adviser and first daughter Ivanka Trump received a lot of backlash Monday when she wished her followers on Twitter “Happy Holidays!” instead of her father- championed “Merry Christmas.”
Ivanka converted to Judaism in 2009, from Christianity, when she married Jared Kushner.
During his presidential campaign, Trump had told Fox News “We are stopping cold the attacks on Judeo-Christian values. … You know, we’re getting near that beautiful Christmas season that people don’t talk about anymore. They don’t use the word ‘Christmas’ because it’s not politically correct. … Well, guess what? We’re saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again.”
And, it is not just the Trump children who have been ridiculed for their posts during the holidays. First lady Melania Trump’s “official 2017 Christmas portrait” tweet on Thursday also garnered a lot of negative reactions from the Twitterati, this time because it did not feature their son Barron Trump. Some of the social media users even found a picture of former President Barack Obama’s holiday portrait, which featured his wife Michelle and children Shasha and Malia to compare it with the current POTUS’ picture.
Another instance in which the first family was mocked was when White House communications director Stephanie Grisham tweeted a photograph which showed the decorations by the first lady.
“The holidays are upon us!! Right now: flotus is seeing to every last detail here at the WhiteHouse,” Grisham’s tweet was captioned.
The photograph showed a lit passageway that was lined with white tree-like installations, which cast shadows on the ceilings. Social media users claimed the picture was “gloomy” and “creepy” and said there was “nothing Christmas-y” about the decorations.
